Chevy Chase Xmas

As 2016 comes to a close, we wanted to say thank you to all our clients, friends, and collaborators for an amazing year together.

It was an interesting year to say the least, and it certainly has kept us on our toes. We used it as an opportunity to focus on how we can have our own impact – doing the best possible work for our clients, making internal investments in hiring, and pouring sweat equity into skunkworks projects. As we look back, there have been myriad new territories that we’ve pushed into as a company – both literally and figuratively.

Early in the year, we opened a new tech-centric office in New York that is now serving as our hub of technology innovation and recruitment. You can read a bit more on why we chose Ithaca, in particular, for that venture in this post we did a couple weeks back. Within a few months, that team will be moving into their new office, currently under renovation, in a great warehouse space that was formerly a printing factory.

On the client side, there were so many fantastic projects that presented us with new challenges and allowed us to bring Funkhaus solutions to their space, ranging from heavy e-commerce sites like Kinfolk, to hotels like The Hollywood Roosevelt, to tastemaker designers like Jayne Design. The hospitality company behind the Roosevelt, Journal Group, also enlisted Funkhaus to design, build, and run a content marketing platform, Teller, that will continue to evolve as the linchpin for their ecosystem of brands.

Within the production world, we are proud to continue innovating and reinventing how filmmakers brand themselves and showcase their work online, producing work that ranges from the edgy – Prettybird, The Third Floor, Decon, Lost Planet, m ss ng p eces – to the classic – Superprime, Washington Square Films, Arcade Edit, Interrogate.

Finally, we were also very excited to launch Funkhaus’ new website, which was a true team effort here. We can’t thank our team enough for all the work that went into design, programming, photography, and strategic copywriting – a true 360° representation of Funkhaus’ capabilities. If you’d like to read a bit more about that process, here’s a write up on how it all came together.

Looking into next year, we will be announcing some very exciting innovations within the social/e-commerce field that we’ve been developing internally. We’re in our final stages of testing, aiming to have something to show early in the New Year and, hopefully, something that you’ll be excited to use yourself!

In the spirit of commemoration, we put together this playlist to celebrate all of the amazing artists we lost this year. There were so many great, great creators that will always inspire, and we’re thankful for them.

By all accounts the year ahead looks to be a challenging one and, for our part, at Funkhaus we’ll keep creating, asking questions, telling good stories, and pushing the limits of what is possible in print and digital design.

Here’s to a strong finish to 2016 and an even stronger start to 2017!

CHEERS!

P.S. At least Chicago has the Cubs.
