Last year, we announced the opening of our satellite programming office in New York, or more specifically, in the creative woodsy haven of Ithaca.
We chose Ithaca as a home for many reasons, like proximity to colleges with great programs that are churning out the next generation of fantastic computer scientists. There’s also all the good things that come with a college town – a certain vibrant culture, progressive agenda, and as we cited in our blog last year, “a growing population interested in fostering a sense of community.”
A testament to that community is Create Upstate, a festival of sorts that celebrates design and creativity, right in Ithaca. Over three days, Create Upstate hosts panels, discussions, and events from the likes of Gemma O’Brien, BuzzFeed’s Cap Watkins, Etsy’s Catt Small, and Carpenter Collective’s Tad Carpenter. Besides insightful conversations, there’s also brewery tours and hikes and street fairs, happenings that take advantage of the incredible landscape and culture Ithaca has to offer.
If you find yourself in Ithaca for Create Upstate, be sure to come by and say hello. Read more about the event here.
