  1. The foot pedal is way cool. The slow opening doors and slow closing drawers suck. When I cook I don’t need that extra time crap getting in the way of what I need to do. It looks cool but its not functional. Like a car door that opens in a cool slow fashion … looks nice till your at the store trying to get out quick cuz ya just want to buy a so and so … my 2 cents :)

  2. This kitchen is absolutely incredible. I love the clean and modern design, and the fact that its all green makes it that much more appealing. It makes me wanna tear down my own kitchen just so I can remodel it in this style.

  3. Foot pedal is cool.but bulb in the cuberts? What for?And it’s not very eco.

  4. nice clean look, good for a kitchen

  5. Try Hometime.com they did a couple of log cabin projects.

  6. I would do a layout first and then have the contractors bid it out according to the design layout. That way you get the contractors bidding out the same thing and you can compare apples to apples.

They will ask some questions that you didn't think about so your design layout may alter.

You can find reviews on the services you need at Angie’s List – from electrician to physician. This is a special link for a special offer: http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-3501334-10582896?sid=ya061209

This looks like residential contractors but I've gotten contractors that have done commercial work as well. At least you can see reviews of them.

    Hope it goes well!

  7. consider getting new face frames, doors and drawer fronts. its much easier and cheaper than whole new cabinets.

  8. The first thing I would do is measure my space and draw a schematic of the area.

You can do this with paper and pencil or use one of any number of planning programs.

Think about the cabinets and appliances you want to have and how they will fit. Do you want full-sized appliance or apartment sized appliances … what do you think will fit in the space.

Think about how much you want to spend and how much you can afford to spend.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes or Menards and look at the cabinets to ball park your costs. You might also want to check out someplace like Sears or Best Buy for appliances as well.

You might want to spend some time watching some of the remodeling shows on DIY, Discovery and TLC … watch what they do and how they do it…

Determine if you can do any work yourself. You may want to do your own demolition and some minor work. I would leave the big stuff to the contractor. S/he will hire qualified sub contractors like electricians and plumbers to do that work. You want licensed people to do that work because you want to make sure it is done correctly, otherwise you could have issues with your insurance company should anything happen later on.

Now that you have done some research and have some ideas about what you can do and what some of your items cost, you want to look for a General Contractor.

This is could be your most difficult task or your easiest. There are a lot of contractors out there …

Again, research is very important. Ask your friends, relatives, coworkers about any work they've done and how they would rate them for reliability, price, honesty, quality, etc.

Get a list and check references, look at their work, review their prices … After you do that, double check all that again. Your contractor is very important. Also call your state licensing board or use their web site to check their license.

May sure you get a contract with an end date and reasonable payment schedule. No 50% up front … maybe 10-20% down the installments until the job is done.

  9. This series has a lot of great ideas in them. I especially love the outdoor shower here we would have to have it screened in since we live near the swamp but it’s easy to get filthy hard to clean that filth if it migrates indoors. It is watching this series I got the idea for eco dome 1 insulation with bale construction. MDI Domes teaches how to construct the domes but the Eco1 is not insulated but is the least expensive to build insulate it and you can use world wide

  10. You would need to check with your city or township building inspector or City Hall to find that out. It could vary depending on where you live. You might need to get a building permit. I would think that no matter what size you are building seeing as it's a kitchen which could involve plumbing and electrical you will need to get a permit of some kind.

  11. Kiln dried.

Generally has less warps to deal with.

  12. Don't mind the previous poster, he's clueless. Yes, people in Ghana do still live in mud huts. Obviously, he's never been to Bolgatanga, Ghana!

Anyway, building an indoor kitchen to improve a hut in a poor part of Ghana. First, you'd have to assume they do NOT have electricity, not in the rural areas. What then the person would use is a small gas burner, single or double, but more likely single, that is attached to an LPG tank. It's lit with boxed matches, and the tank looks kind of like a propane tank, only usually more narrow and taller. The tank with a burner is about $40; refills of the tank are about $6.

Second, there is also likely no plumbing in the house; water is brought from a communal faucet and kept in large plastic barrels. It's used for cooking and washing. Washing would be in a large plastic basin, done outside of the house so the water can be dumped. If the person has to buy the barrel, that's about $10, the basin is about $4.

I am sure they'd like to at least have a table to work on, that can be built be a local carpenter for about $7-8. A cabinet built to store goods would be about $13-15. You're talking less than $25 for both items, labor included.

Because there's no electricity, they'd keep things cold by using an ice chest, with ice bought from a vendor who does have electricity. Most people who make foods like local soup will not refrigerate it, but will keep it covered and reheat it often to kill bacteriia.

Lighting would either be by candle or kerosene lamps.

    Hope this helps.

  13. the indian kitchen invention

  14. Home Depot or other building centres usually have this type of information available in brochures. If not, then these building centres normally have someone on staff who will advise you. They also have seminars available in different building projects. Good Luck, it sounds great!

  15. You can also find an old dresser that is the ht. you need put a slab of marble on top an roller canster on the legs an that makes a beautiful island, or go to your local salvage yard an buy cheap cabinets put canster on them also

  16. Sure you can use your original grill. A good stone or brick mason can incorporate your grill into an awesome outside kitchen. Draw your plans up, somewhat to scale and build around your grill. It will be awesome. Best of Luck and Happy Cooking!!!

  17. Depending on the size, you can actually buy one for around $250 you shop around..

  18. Foot petals are NOW AWESOME.

  19. Its amazing design and furniture! I like italian design, I adore this style!

  20. Buy two Kitchen Base Cabinets, that are 3 Feet each, join them together and set a top on it. On the Back side, install Matching Paneling, or what ever you want. Or get creative , with a different arragngement.

  21. it's all up to your creativity

  22. Suggest that you buy a blank counter top, or have a blank cut to your specs at your local home improvement center since it will have a backspash (preferred). Next, you can use the template supplied with the sink you buy to cut out for the installation of the sink. For the cabinet, I suggest you copy the design of one you like, i.e. drawers etc. and build it to the dimensions to fit your space.

  23. To get a kitchen, you firstly need to upgrade your house once.

If you haven't upgraded it yet, you need to buy the table from the sprite shopping channel (to unlock the channel, buy an item from the supermarket for any 10 days).

Then you can get Gotz to upgrade your house. Then continue to watch the shopping channel for the kitchen and cooking utensils.
