RIP Phil Stern

Phil Stern is an American legend and a legend around these parts, too.

The Stern family are good friends of FUNKHAUS, and as such you might be well acquainted with some of Stern’s famous portraits that adorn the walls of our studio. His incredible career spans photographs in the grit of World War II to portraiture for Hollywood icons like John Wayne, James Dean, and Marilyn Monroe. Despite the tireless work of his son Peter over the last few years, Phil is still one of the most underrated American photographers in our opinion.
