Funkhaus Team Picks – Summer 2026
Welcome to Funkhaus Team Picks, where some of us share the media that has stuck with us each quarter. Read on to see what we’ve been into lately.

My Pick: Masala Noir Press
I picked up this catalogue of old surf & skate stickers from Kamengski Press & Masala Noir at Heath Newsstand in San Francisco. I found myself as my middle school self, poring over each page and the preciousness of each graphic design nugget. Then I did a deep dive into Masala Noir’s rich portfolio of amazing catalogued items, from house record 45 labels, to spray paint cans, to fireworks packaging. There’s a design gift in there for any personality you know!

My Pick: Outlast on Netflix
This is a survival reality series where random people have to form groups and outlast everyone else to win a million dollars split amongst each other. I found myself day dreaming about running off into the wild and giving it a go myself!

My Pick: MUNA - Dancing on the Wall
MUNA’s fourth album came out in May, and I attended the second night of their album release shows at the Shrine Expo Hall the day after. The crash course of listening to the album for two days straight and seeing it live right away has cemented many of these songs as my 2026 songs of summer, specifically “Mary Jane” and “On Call.” Greatest band in the world.

My Pick: Daughter of the Dragon by Yunte Huang
I’m currently engrossed in this biography of Chinese American film star Anna May Wong. It’s a well-researched book, and I’ve enjoyed learning about Anna’s life growing up in LA’s historic Chinatown (not too far from the Funkhaus office!) and her entrance into Hollywood in the industry’s early days.

My Pick: Mixtape by Beethoven & Dinosaur
Mixtape is a bite-size, nostalgia-inducing trip of a video game that follows a trio of friends on their last day of summer before splitting up for college and life's next adventure. Each chapter is set to a song, which the lead character Stacy Rockford introduces and waxes lyrical before hurling you into surreal, dreamlike sequences that will have you floating through fields, conducting fireworks, bombing down hills on your skateboard, and floating over your small town as you reflect on adolescence and prepare for what comes next.

My Pick: Untold UK: Vinnie Jones on Netflix
Ever since I saw Vinnie as ‘Bulletooth Tony’ in Guy Ritchie’s Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels I’ve been a huge fan. I had no idea Vinnie was a footballer back then, but then I saw him play in a Hollywood United F.C. game at Santa Monica High School one night back in 2005. This guy is a savage!
Jessica, Project Manager
My Pick: Deadloch on Amazon Prime
I've been proselytizing about this show since 10 minutes into watching the pilot. It's so unexpected, so funny, so queer. Madeleine Sami is a gift to comedy and her character Detective Eddie Redcliffe is now one of my all time favs. The way she can deliver the most insane lines you’ve ever heard… When they're hitting the comedy you forget it's a crime show and when they're hitting the crime you forget it's a comedy. The whiplash is a mark of genius.
