Innovation

Applied AI, built around your business.

We help organizations find practical uses for AI, starting with your team and the way you work. From everyday bottlenecks to bigger possibilities, we test ideas and build tools that make a real difference, with the care and creative perspective we bring to every Funkhaus project.

How we work

01

2–4 weeks

Explore & Prototype

Understand the opportunity, test ideas with a focused prototype, and create a clear plan for what comes next.

02

Custom scope

Engineer & Deploy

Turn a validated idea into a working tool, with the integrations, testing and handoff your team needs.

03

Ongoing

Optimize & Evolve

Keep the system working well through monitoring, support and improvements as your needs and the technology change.

Selected applications

Conceptual music rights workspace showing catalog tracks and rights review statuses

Music / Publishing

Helping artists find
what they're owed.

We built the back-end management system for a SaaS platform that helps artists identify unclaimed royalties and capture the rights information needed to pursue them. A complex process, made easier to navigate.

Conceptual partner onboarding form feeding into prepared compliance documents

Cannabis

Less paperwork.
More progress.

For a large cannabis brand, every new farm or producer meant another round of custom paperwork. We built an onboarding platform that collects partner information once and automatically prepares compliance documents for filing.

Conceptual initiative microsite connected to a publishing pipeline with quality review, CMS standards and shared hosting

Nonprofit

Local ideas.
A stronger platform.

We created a path for a global nonprofit's international teams to prototype initiative websites with AI, then bring them into a reliable publishing system. Each site moves through a shared process for CMS setup, code quality and centralized hosting, giving teams freedom to create with the support to launch well.

Conceptual grant management workspace showing initiative stages, funding follow-ups and next steps

Philanthropy / Impact

Keeping funding
moving forward.

For a philanthropic management company, we built a CRM that brings the grant pipeline into one place. Teams can track each grant's stage, see what needs follow-up, and coordinate funding and resource deployment. A clearer view of the work helps keep support moving to the communities that need it.

Frequently asked questions

Practical questions.
Clear answers.

Yes. You can work with Funkhaus on an innovation project without a website, branding engagement or ongoing retainer. We value long-term relationships, but we are happy to start with a focused assignment.

We begin with discovery to understand your organization, the problem and what success looks like, then agree on the work ahead.

Yes. We choose technology around the problem, your existing systems and your budget. That can mean using an established tool, connecting platforms or building something custom.

We consider cost, reliability and how your team will run the solution after handoff. We also explain any platform dependencies or licensing limits before you commit.

Many AI services charge for usage, often measured in tokens: small pieces of the information a model reads and produces. Costs depend on the model, the amount of processing and how often the system runs. Hosting, software subscriptions and other services can add separate costs.

We help estimate ongoing costs at different usage levels and agree on a budget for setup and testing. Wherever practical, service accounts are set up in your organization's name. If we use Funkhaus accounts for a prototype, we agree on a spending allowance first and move production usage to your accounts before launch.

Before handoff, we explain expected monthly costs, what could increase them, and the available monitoring, alerts and usage controls. Ongoing provider fees are separate from our project fee unless the scope says otherwise.

Our Technical Director leads the work, with our Managing Partner involved throughout. We draw on Funkhaus's wider technology, design and content teams as needed.

That means we consider how the system works, how people use it, and how relevant content and experiences can be understood by AI search tools and agents.

No. A recurring bottleneck, a time-consuming task or a process that could work better is a useful starting point. We help identify opportunities, prioritize them and decide whether AI, conventional automation or a simpler change is the right answer.

Yes. We start by reviewing your current tools and how your team uses them. Where access and platform capabilities allow, we connect and improve what is already in place. Any integration limits, added subscriptions or necessary changes are identified during discovery.

Our aim is for your organization to control and operate the solution after handoff. We define ownership of custom work, account access, documentation and training in the project scope.

Third-party platforms, AI models and licensed tools remain subject to their providers' terms. We make those dependencies clear so you understand what you own and what you are paying to use.

We review what data the system needs, who should have access and which services will process it. We agree on handling requirements before using sensitive information and review provider settings, retention policies and any relevant restrictions.

Where possible, prototypes use sample or de-identified data. Your IT, security or compliance team can be involved in reviewing the approach.

Timing depends on the question we are trying to answer and the systems involved. A focused exploration or prototype might take a few weeks. A production system usually needs more time for integrations, testing and handoff.

We define the first phase during discovery, with clear deliverables and a decision point before committing to a larger build.

Finding that out is a useful outcome of discovery or prototyping. We explain what we tested, the limits we found and whether a different approach is worth pursuing. The initial work is scoped to investigate the idea, rather than guarantee that it can be built.

We can hand the solution over to your team or provide ongoing support under a separate agreement. The handoff covers documentation, access and operating responsibilities. Ongoing support can include monitoring, troubleshooting and improvements as your needs or the underlying tools change.

Yes. Where relevant, we advise on answer engine optimization (AEO): making your content clear, useful and accessible to AI-powered discovery tools. We bring together content strategy, site structure, technical implementation and design to support that work.

We can also consider how AI agents navigate and use an experience. Visibility and inclusion in AI-generated answers depend on the external services involved and cannot be guaranteed.
